Basing a gore drenched horror comedy on a beloved psychedelic TV show from the sixties is definitely a brave and bonkers idea. Warner Bros. have given the film makers a licence to practically wipe the wholesome memory of the characters away and replace them with blood thirsty murderers. Does it work? At times it drags a bit with the token ‘family drama’ thrown in to the plot to give some of the characters motivation but when the killings start it’s a a lot of fun.
Not the greatest movie in the world but at 90 minutes it doesn’t outstay it’s welcome and it will certainly mess up your childhoods with loveable characters being turned into sadistic sinister psychopaths.
