WWE Survivor Series 2017

The Survivor Series was always one of my favourite PPV’s dating back to the days of Hulkamania.  In the past the old school matches have tended to drift away but in recent years they have made a bit of a comeback.  Last year (2017) was no exception with the RAW and Smackdown Superstars (Male and Female) roster facing each other as well as other matches including Universal Champion vs. WWE Champion.  Which in my view was pointless as whoever ‘Part-Time’ Lesnar seems to come against, he’ll beat them.

Pre-Show (Kick-Off)

  1. Elias vs. Matt Hardy
  2. Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto
  3. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Breezango

Main Card

  1. The Shield vs. The New Day
  2. Team RAW vs. Team Smackdown (Women’s Division)
  3. IC Champ The Miz vs US Champ. Baron Corbin
  4. Cesaro and Sheamus vs. The Uso’s
  5. Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte Flair
  6. Team RAW vs. Team Smackdown

It’s a beast of a Blu-ray with the full PPV (around four hours) and the kick off marches as extras.  The whole event is spread across two discs on the DVD release.  I like the Champion vs. Champion matches but seeing there was a couple of weak title holders (Corbin and Amore) the matches could have been better.  The traditional 5 on 5 matches were pretty good but the men had too much reliance on veterans instead of ‘bigging up’ younger talent.  However it was nice to see Kurt Angle briefly and Braun Strowman is coming along nicely.

All in all, a good value release but there were better PPV’s in 2017.
