WWE Summerslam 2017

Once again taking place at the Barclays Center in New York, this year’s Summerslam was a packed to the rafters PPV full of matches.  The actual broadcast was the best part of four hours and that doesn’t include all the kick off show bouts and filler (on the network).

Kick-Off Show Preliminary Matches (extras on the Blu-ray)

  1. The Miz, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel vs. Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and Jason Jordan
  2. Cruiserweight Championship match between Akira Tozawa and Neville
  3. Smackdown Tag Team Championship between The New Day and The Usos

Main PPV

  1. John Cena vs. Baron Corbin
  2. Smackdown Women’s Title Match between Naomi and Natalya
  3. Big Cass vs. Big Show. (Enzo Amore suspended above the ring in a cage)
  4. Randy Orton vs. Rusev
  5. RAW Women’s Title Match between Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss
  6. Bray Wyatt Vs. Finn Balor
  7. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rolins Vs. Cersaro and Sheamus for the RAW Tag Team Title
  8. US Title Match between Kevin Owens and AJ Styles
  9. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal Vs. Shinsuke Nakamara
  10. Fatal 4 Way for the Universal Championship between Brock Lesna, Brawn Strowman, Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe

The whole PPV is obviously great value for money with the Fatal 4 Way Universal Championship match being one of the highlights.  Although the result is well known, Brawn Strowman came across again as a frightening force of nature destroying everything he could lay his hands on.  There were a couple of pointless matches included on the card especially the battle of the Big’s i.e. Cass and Show.  We know Big Show puts over the talent now as he is a valued and respected veteran but it just seemed an excuse to continue the boring feud between Cass and Enzo.  The ladies put on a pretty good show with both titles on display but again Rusev was embarrassed by the booking committee.  I’m not even going there with Jinder Mahal, poor old Shinsuke couldn’t even get a decent match out of him with all his talent and genius.

Overall Summerslam 2017 has hours of wrestling and for that you can’t do nothing but recommend it.
