WWE Payback and Backlash 2017 Double Feature

What now seems to be the trend with the non big PPV’s (Wrestlemania, etc.) we have another great value double bill of two more 2017 PPV’s from the WWE.

Payback (From San Jose in California)   RAW PPV

  1. Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson  (Extra on DVD as well as MIZ TV).
  2. Chris Jericho vs. United States Champion Kevin Owens
  3. Cruiserweight Champion Neville vs. Austin Aries
  4. Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz vs. vs. Sheamus and Cesaro
  5. Women’s Champion Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss
  6. Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton in a ‘House of Horrors’ Match
  7. Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe
  8. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman

A pretty good PPV from the RAW brand with the final PPV (for now) match of Chris Jericho’s latest run although he has returned for some house shows in between his ‘Fozzy gigs.  Poor old Bailey followed the trend of home town heroes losing when she dropped the belt to Alexa Bliss who is fast becoming a real asset to the company except maybe for the infamous ‘This is Your Life” segment on Monday Night RAW.  Reigns and Strowman continues their battles and the only real stinker was the ‘House of Horrors’ match.   It was supposed to be a living nightmare which it was but for all the wrong reasons.

Backlash (From Rosemont, Illinois)     SMACKDOWN PPV

  1. Aiden English vs. Tye Dillinger     (Extra on DVD)
  2. Dolph Ziggler vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
  3. Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. Fandango and Tyler Breeze
  4. Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin
  5. Charlotte Flair, Naomi and Becky Lynch vs. Carmella, Natalya and Tamina
  6. United States Champion Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles
  7. Erick Rowan vs. Luke Harper
  8. WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal

Well what can you say?  Some decent matches including Owens and Styles for Owens’ newly obtained US Title from Jericho and the real shocker of life time jobber to the stars, Jinder Mahal becoming World Champion.  In all honesty fair play for all the hard work Jinder has put in and when I met him briefly at an old FCW event a few years ago I recall he was a very nice chap.  So well done sir.

Overall, certainly not classic WWE but two PPV’s for the price of one can’t be ignored and there is good stuff on there, so it’s up to you whether you take the plunge.

  • Starring Jinder Mahal  Becky Lynch  James Ellsworth  Chris Jericho  Tyler Breeze
