Hell in a Cell 2016

Hell in a Cell 2016 came from Boston, Massachusetts and was history making as it featured a triple main event.  More importantly the final (actual main event) match of the show was a Women’s Championship Match between Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair.

There was a Cruiserweight contest that kicked off the event (which is an extra on the disc among others) and featured Cedric Alexander, Sin Cara and Lince Dorado facing the trio of Tony Nese, Drew Gulak and Ariya Davari.  The actual first ‘proper’ match of the event i.e. broadcast first, was poor old Rusev facing WWE poster boy Roman Reigns for the US title.  You knew who was going to win and once again a really good heel with a fantastic mouthpiece in Lana came up second place.  The awesome and incredibly over Bayley was next taking on Dana Brooke.  Bayley and her inflatable wavy tube men always brings a smile to my face and the fact she’s a great wrestler is an added bonus.  Brooke, is getting better all the time and I reckon in the near future if her character is handled correctly she will be a main eventer.  Enzo and Big Cass were up next taking on the mighty Gallows and Anderson, thankfully common sense prevailed and the right team (at this time) picked up the win.

‘The Kevin Owens Show’ followed where the Universal Champion faced off against Seth Rollins.  A highly entertaining encounter make even better by Chris Jericho poking his oar in.  Owens/Jericho is priceless and WWE must continue to get mileage out these two monster heels.  Newly crowned Cruiserweight TJ Perkins defended his title against Brian Kendrick next.  Shifty goings-on were the order of the day from the sly Kendrick who is terrific playing the bitter veteran.

The New Day faced the rather odd couple of Cesaro and Sheamus next.  The poor old referee had a nightmare keeping control of this one and although there was a great ending, it’s not the one I would have preferred.

Finally the ladies were on next for the final match of the evening.  Sasha Banks was to defend her title against Charlotte Flair in the very first Hell in a Cell bout for the girls.  I could watch these two wrestle all day and this match was pretty exceptional.

Hell in a Cell 2016 was in my humble opinion a very good PPV for all the right reasons, well done WWE.
