Last Girl Standing

The Hunter is a mass murderer along the lines of Jason or Michael Myers.  He has left a path of bloody destruction for years and at the beginning of this film finally gets his comeuppance at the hands of the ‘final girl’ Camryn.  Five years pass and Camryn is a poor withdrawn soul working in a dry cleaners.  Her boss, David employs a chap called Nick to run the cash register and he befriends Camryn who really hasn’t got over the massacre of her friends.

Camryn sees ‘The Hunter’ almost everywhere and is beginning to lose touch with reality.  She is introduced to Nick’s friends and slowly becomes part of their circle.  One of the group Danielle who is possibly one of the nicest characters in a film ever is determined to help her and they travel to the killer’s final resting place.

Last Girl Standing is without doubt one of the best films I have seen this year.  For a first time feature, director Ben Moody has crafted something very wonderful, it’s clever, well written and impeccably acted by it’s cast.  Lead actress Akasha Villalobos acts her socks off, she is admirably supported by her real life Husband Brian playing Nick and Danielle Evon Ploeger playing the kind Danielle who has her own sad back story.  One final note is the actual look of ‘The Hunter’ himself, he’s a hulking brute wearing a really creepy deer head complete with antlers.  The image is actually really quite striking.

Totally awesome, enough said.
