With WWE owning all of the WCW tapes as well as other wrestling organisations, they have dug deep and brought out the third in their Monday Nitro series. Introduced by Diamond Dallas Page who takes us through a journey of fond memories of the show which went up against RAW in the Monday Night Wars.
As this was late WCW, a lot of ex and soon to be WWE talent are represented. Chris Jericho and The Giant (Big Show) are there as well as Hogan, Bret Hart and Randy Savage. There’s lots of varied matches here including a Texas Tornado Tag, Hardcore and Triple Threat. There’s even an evening gown match between Madusa and Mona, thrown in for good measure. What is really nice to see is that almost forgotten wrestlers from that era are included. You ask a lot of kids today if they know Mike Awesome, Vampiro and Kanyon, the chances are they won’t, so let them watch this set and appreciate the days when the WWE had competition in the mainstream. Of course lots of my favourites are here such as Sting, Flair and Randy Savage, even Marc Mero is included in his dreadfully bad but fantastic Johnny B. Badd persona.
An incredible amount of good stuff here with even more on the blu-ray so this will keep you busy for quite some time. I personally really enjoy the older stuff and this is no exception.
