The Expendables 2

With the original making serious money, it would be only fair that Sylvester Stallone would want to make a sequel.  This time he hands the reins to Con Air director Simon West and gives bigger roles to Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Also, why not rope in Jean ClaudeVan Damme and the legendary Chuck Norris, thankfully not in his World of Warcraft mode.

Barney Ross, Lee Christmas and their merry band of mercenaries are back once again to right wrongs, blow stuff up and kill various disposable bad guys.  The Expendables are giving a mission by the shady Mr. Church but it all goes wrong when one of them is executed by the slimy Vilain played by Van Damme.

We are then treated to an obscene amount of action and appalling one liners (usually delivered by Arnie).  Van Damme and his recent regular acting partner Scott Adkins are great bad guys and it is very emotional to see Arnie back on the screen killing people.  However, I have always had a special place in my heart for Chuck and although he could have been used more, when he is on screen its like the 1980’s again.  Must find Invasion USA and give it a watch.

The Expendables 2 is one of those films that if you liked the original you will love this one.  If you don’t like mindless action, violence, one liners, cheesy acting and plots written on the back of a napkin, what is the hell is wrong with you?

Excellent entertainment with two capital ‘E’s.
