Twenty8K

Deeva is a successful fashion executive based in Paris who has to rush home to London when her brother gets arrested for a gang related shooting outside a nightclub.

She is convinced her brother is innocent and when the Police declare it an ‘open and shut’ case, Deeva launches her own investigation.  She is soon drawn into a web of corruption, drug deals and escort girls.

Twenty8K is a rare beast.  A very well made UK based thriller that features interesting characters, superb performances and a very well written script.  Seeing that one of the writers is Paul Abbott creator of Shameless and one of the people behind the recent Hit and Miss on Sky, you know damn well that this is not going to be rubbish.

Leading the cast is Parminder Nagra (Bend it Like Beckham and ER) and is backed up by Stephen Dillane as a dodgy copper and Robin Hood himself, Jonas Armstrong as a youth worker.  There’s plenty of other familar faces on show with cast members coming from the likes of Skins, The Bill and Bread.

Twenty8K is simply excellent, even the Hip Hop (which I’m not the biggest of fans) on the soundtrack didn’t bother me and spoil my enjoyment.  Please seek it out and support something quite wonderful.  It passes the ‘Mum and Dad’ test, considering the old man only loves westerns, action and comedies and Mum loves soaps, you won’t get a better recommendation than that.
